At the twelfth edition of the awards, which took place in Athens in 2026, Swiss perfumer Andreas Wilhelm was honored with the People's Choice Award in the Independent category.
The award went to the fragrance "Verdant" by the brand Ilé Olomu, which Wilhelm composed for Creative Director Bawo Ijirigho.

Founded by the Institute for Art and Olfaction, the Art and Olfaction Awards are among the most prestigious international honors in independent perfumery. Since their inception, they have recognized outstanding achievements in the art of fragrance and provided a platform for independent perfumers, niche brands, and experimental scent artists. The awards are considered a counterpart to the major commercial perfume awards and are distinguished by their transparent, multi-stage, and anonymous judging process.
“Verdant” was celebrated by both the jury and the public for its exceptional interpretation of green notes. Inspired by the plantain plant, the fragrance combines a vibrant, almost photorealistic freshness with soft, starchy, and musky facets, creating a novel olfactory experience.
Immerse yourself in a world where green meets gourmand. Verdant Eau de Parfum is a tribute to the untamed beauty of plantain: fresh, vibrant, and full of energy. The fragrance achieves a masterful balance of sparkling citrus fruits, warm spices, and deep, resinous woods, elevating the familiar scent of green plantain into an elegant and sophisticated olfactory experience.
Created in collaboration with master perfumer Andreas Wilhelm in Zurich, Switzerland.
